How Final Legacy Began

At one of our regular Friday evening family dinners, I found myself admiring a
beautiful decorative plate on the wall. In a light-hearted mood, we discussed to
whom this plate should be left in the family. Her son wanted to break it. One of her
daughters wanted to keep it for her children and the other didn't care either way.

It was at this moment I experienced an epiphany.

The plate had no real monetary value. Yet the daughter, who wanted it
for her children, wanted it because the plate represented something really important;
something worth preserving. And suddenly I realized that this same scenario is played
out in every family or group of close friends. That plate represented a life
very dear to its recipient.

Each of us has a 'plate'; whether it is a trinket, a painting, family heirloom,
sports equipment, or a special collection of sorts that we know will be priceless
to someone dear. On the other hand, there are many such items we want to give to a
special person, whom we know will cherish it as much as we do while we're alive,
but too often such items are forgotten when we're drawing up our financial
asset-centric Wills.

I believe each of us has a purpose to our lives that we were born to fulfil.
If I had a smile on my face for the rest of that Friday evening, it was because
I'd discovered my purpose.

On that night, Final Legacy was born.
